MegaDiamond low-content PCBN grade NT5 has been developed specifically for finish machining of hardened ferrous materials. With its excellent chemical stability and wear resistance, NT5 is designed to retain a good cutting edge at high surface speeds. NT5 also displays remarkable toughness, given its high resistance to chemical wear. This unique balance of chemical wear resistance and toughness makes NT5 an excellent solution for hard-part machining applications.

Applications

NT5 is particularly suited for finish machining of hardened steels in continuous to light interrupted cuts. Typical applications include case-hardened and through-hardened steel components. NT5 is also very effective in continuous machining of ball bearing steels.

Typical Edge Preparations
General cutting conditions:   0.2 mm T-land at 25° with small hone
Stable conditions in continuous cut:   0.2 mm T-land at 25°, sharp or lightly brushed
Unstable conditions in interrupted cut:   0.2 mm T-land at 25° with heavy hone
