MegaDiamond HM20 is the ideal choice where the finishing costs of PCD tools are prohibitive. HM20 is a unique tool material that is far less costly to grind than typical PCD products, but still offers much better wear resistance than tungsten carbide and ceramics. This grade also provides extreme fracture toughness, making it particularly effective in highly interrupted cutting. HM20 combines the typical low friction coefficient and the excellent wear resistance of PCD with the relative ease of grinding. These properties define HM20 as an ideal wear-part material. HM20 is a perfect compromise between cemented carbide and traditional PCD.

Applications

HM20 is designed for use in non-ferrous applications where tool fabrication cost is the primary concern. Typical applications include low-silicon aluminum alloys, wood, and wood-based products, plastics, and ceramics. HM20 is particularly suited for wear applications requiring three-dimensional profiling of the wear surface. While polished HM20 has a cloudy finish due to the high metal content, such finish does not effect product performance.
